Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown

The Pilgrim Monument commemorates the history of the Mayflower Pilgrims, their arrival and stay in Provincetown Harbor, and the signing of the Mayflower Compact. It is the tallest all-granite structure in the United States. It dominates the tip of the Cape and it is 100 years old in 2010! President Theodore Roosevelt laid the cornerstone in 1907. In 1910, President William Howard Taft dedicated the finished 252-foot tower. The design is patterned after the Torre Del Mangia in Siena, Italy.
